When to go on safari to Tanzania?

A safari can be a great solo vacation or it can be combined with a vacation in Zanzibar.

In general, anyone can go on safari at any time, but the best time for safari in Tanzania is usually during the dry season, which lasts from June to October and then from December to March. It is good to avoid long the rainy season in April and May.

If you are focusing on a Great migration, it is recommended to go to Tanzania in the period from June to October, when the animals cross the river Grumeti and then the Mara River, or from January to March, when the herds are in the southern part of the Serengeti.

In January and February, you can witness the birth of wildebeests, in the southern plains of the Serengeti, where there are fewer predators at that time.
