NP LAKE MANYARA
Just a 1.5-hour drive west of Arusha is a park of 330 km², of which up to 200 km² is a lake when the water level is high. The park is located under the breathtaking backdrop of the steep western escarpment of the Great Trench sinkholes. Once you enter Lake Manyara National Park, you will be surrounded evergreen forest. This unique forest area resembles a tropical rain primeval forest, but the vegetation is mainly supported by groundwater.
The park is the best place to meet birds in Tanzania, because here There are more than 400 species of birds. Lake Manyara is home to thousands of pink Flamingos.
Large herds of buffalo and elephants can be easily observed in this park, as well as like cats. However, Manyara lions spend more time in trees and the reason why they spend most of the time in the treetops, remains a mystery. It is not a A special kind of lion, but learned behavior. This peculiar behavior of lions is possible observed in only two places in the world.
Other animals found in the park include wildebeests, giraffes, warthogs, leopards and impalas. There is also a high number of primates such as vervet monkeys and baboons.
